El-Roy Erxleben
November 21, 1928 - April 30, 2009

El-Roy Erxleben, age 80 of Seguin, passed away on April 30, 2009. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Cross United Church of Christ with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Military honors will be rendered under the auspices of The American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245. Private interment will be held at a later date. El-Roy was born on November 21, 1928 in Zorn, Texas to Hilmar and Romana Kirchner Erxleben. He attended the Dietert School, graduated from Seguin High School (1946) and attended Texas Lutheran College. He served during the Korean War in the United States Army and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked as Postmaster at the Seguin Post Office. At the age of 12, he began playing with the Julius and Milton Dietert Band and played with several other bands throughout the years. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patsy Neumann Erxleben; daughter, Cathy Beicker and husband, Donny; son, Russell Erxleben and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Brent Beicker and wife, Katie; Clint Beicker and wife, Amy; Russell Erxleben II, Lauren Erxleben, Ryan Erxleben, Erin Erxleben; great-grandchildren, Brinley Beicker and Brylen Beicker; sister-in-law, Bernice Neumann; and a host of family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Cross United Church of Christ, 814 N. Bauer, Seguin, Texas, 78155 or to the charity of one’s choice.
